QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

Is it a must to have good physical fitness to attend our training sessions?

Good physical fitness is desirable, but not obligatory. Of course, if you have not been engaged in any kind of physical activity for a long time, it is advisable to consult a doctor before starting the training, in order to find out if the state of your health generally permits to do sports. We do not require our students to have good physical fitness, but it is in their mutual interest to evaluate their state of health and physical capacity. In any case, unless you have any serious health problems, you can surely come to the first training session and try it out. Here, we train for ourselves, not to win in any competition, therefore, the students are not forced to complete something that they are not ready for.

What do you need to take to the first training session?

To the first training session, you have to take a gym suit, shower slippers and shower accessories. Sportswear. Sports trousers should be long (this will help protect your knees from scratches). Sports shirt may be with long or semi-long sleeves (t-shirt is also acceptable). Sportswear should not contain metal parts (zippers, buttons, etc.), as they can cause injuries to you and to training partners during trainings. Of course, if you will continue trainings regularly, it would be highly advisable to buy a kimono. First of all, kimono is much more durable than the usual sports shirts, so in the long run you will be more likely to buy a durable kimono once, rather than regularly changing torn t-shirts. Also, kimono is highly advisable, as it makes easier to do various fighting techniques (throws, strikes, etc.). Kimono can be purchased at various specialized sports goods stores, a price is around EUR 21.34 and up. It must be admitted, however, that the cheapest kimonos are usually karate kimonos. Compared to a judo kimono, it is thinner and less durable, so it sometimes happens that such a kimono tears during training. However, if you are not sure if oriental martial arts are for you, you do not have to buy a kimono right away. In the beginning a regular gym suit will be enough. Shower slippers. You will need shower slippers not during the training session, but to walk from the dressing room to tatami (training area). At tatami, exercises are performed only with bare feet (sports shoes are not allowed). The only exception is shoes specially tailored for Oriental martial arts, which can be purchased at specialized sports stores. Buying these shoes is optional, as most students usually train with bare feet. Shower accessories. (Sometimes we also take specific sports equipment, such as boxing gloves, to the training, but the coach usually tells about it beforehand. Various metal objects – rings, earrings and other jewelry – should be left at the dressing room before training, as they can injure you and your training partners during training).
